The LaCuisine association invites the public to come and discover Currency a show by the Théâtre Octobre company based on the play by the French writer, best known for his novels and essays François Bégaudeau, Wednesday June 19 at 8 p.m. in the Synergies hall in Muttersholtz.

Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, is not the motto of the French Republic the most beautiful, the best rhythmic, but above all the most daring, the most modern, the one which shows the way to humanity? In the room, tasked with young people to restore meaning to the founding words of the Republic, a man (Gérald Izing) practices making his speech resonate.

Guided by a hyper-motivated coach (Léonie Kerckaert), he asks himself, what is the moral foundation of our Republic? In these times of civic crisis, where are we? Is freedom doing what you want? What is equality for? And what about brotherhood in all this?

Meaning through dispute

“Since we have received the power to convince each other and to make our wishes clear to ourselves, not only have we freed ourselves from the wild life, but we have come together to build cities, establish laws, discover arts. Almost everything we have invented, it is the word that has made it possible”, wrote Isocrates already 250 years before Jesus Christ.

Currency , an oratorical joust without frenzied didacticism, reminds us above all that in a democracy, it is through dispute that meaning is constructed. A playful, free, equal and fraternal confrontation which is the very space of politics. A play which will also be presented at the Mentel college in Sélestat on Thursday June 20.

Currency , Wednesday June 19, Les Synergies in Muttersholtz at 8 p.m., from 12 years old. Duration: 1 hour. Full price: €8, reduced: €5 (LaCuisine member, job seeker).
