“Following the advice of doctors and in order to ensure a complete recovery” of the person concerned, while “protecting others”, Camilla, 77, will not attend the commemorative events of the weekend, declared a spokesperson for the palace, cited in a press release.
These commemorations include an event at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday evening and then a tribute ceremony on Sunday at the official British war memorial, the Cenotaph.
Princess Kate, wife of Prince William, will be present at the commemorations. She announced in September the end of her chemotherapy in a video shot with her husband William and their three children, paving the way for a gradual resumption of her public commitments.
The queen consort “hopes to resume her public functions at the beginning of next week,” the palace further indicated.
He announced on Tuesday that she was suffering from “a lung infection”, without giving additional information on the seriousness of her illness. According to British media, the queen is under the supervision of doctors.
Charles III and Camilla, who married in 2005, returned at the end of October from a tour of the Pacific which took them to Australia and Samoa. They stopped in India for a private tour on the way home.
The king, aged 75, announced at the start of the year that he was suffering from cancer, the nature of which has not been revealed.
