During his birthday celebrations, the young prince Siegfried must choose a bride. Dreaming of an ideal love, he seeks to escape reality. His tutor tries to reason with him and reminds him of his duties. During a dreamlike escapade by a lake, the prince meets Odette, a princess transformed into a swan woman by the powerful sorcerer Rothbart. Only true love can break the spell. Captivated by Odette, Siegfried promises to save her and invites her to his party. But the sorcerer sets a trap for him: he sends his daughter Odile to seduce him in the guise of Odette.
