Singer Beyoncé will be the big favorite at the next Grammy Awards ceremony, the American Music industry awards in February 2025. She received nominations in eleven categories for her album ‘Cowboy Carter’.
Beyoncé will compete with other mega star of American music Taylor Swift, notably in the category of best album, as well as with new pop stars Charli XCX, Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter, the Recording Academy announced Friday .
She received nominations in the category of best album of the year, and notably, in that of best country album, while her album, which draws heavily on this genre, was recently shunned from nominations at the Country Music Awards.
With the single ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’, punctuated by the sound of the banjo, and ‘Cowboy Carter’, ‘Queen B’ had nevertheless become the first black artist to rise to the top of the Billboard reference charts for country.
In addition to being a phenomenal success, ‘Cowboy Carter’, which also includes the classic ‘Jolene’ by absolute country star Dolly Parton, has reignited debates on the place of African-Americans in the history of country music , from which they were largely ousted, the genre being rather associated with white and conservative musicians.
Two weeks after Trump’s inauguration
With eleven nominations, she is ahead of Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Post Malone – seven nominations each -, then Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Taylor Swift, who receive six nominations each.
The 67th Grammy Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday February 2, 2025 in Los Angeles, two weeks after Donald Trump’s inauguration at the White House.
