On September 25, during a broadcast by the media Tocsin, Sophie Audugé, general director of the SOS Éducation association, explained that she was sending a letter to Prime Minister Michel Barnier, and to the ministers of the Interior, ‘National Education and Culture to denounce the “pornographic and psychologically dangerous content” of Lost Children’s Clubby Rebecca Lighieri (POL editions, August 2024), in the running for the 2024 Goncourt Prize for high school students.
Several deputies, associated with Marion Maréchal, also wrote to the Minister of National Education, Anne Genetet, explaining that “in its capacity as organizer of the event, (the ministry) should have objected to such a work appearing in the list of readings intended for a minor audience aged 15 to 17. » And to add: “We ask you, on behalf of the many parents of students who have contacted us, to immediately have this work removed from the reading list presented to high school students, and to initiate an internal investigation to shed light on the circumstances which allowed such diffusion. »

The minister responded, evading the question, and responding alongside: “I fully understand your concern, and I wanted to provide you with some clarifications (…) Before and throughout the reading of the works, the teachers support the students participating in the Prix Goncourt des lycéens through rigorous work of preparation and discussion “. “The mediation of teachers is fundamental and continuous (…) If students express their desire not to read the work, they have every right to do so. »
