While it seems that Fallout is unanimous among Prime Video viewers, Amazon continues to fill its catalog with more and more video game adaptations. And yesterday, we were treated to the announcement of the future series on this incredible trilogy of science fiction games.

While nothing was planned for N7 Day yesterday, the unmissable event for Mass Effect fans, Amazon Prime pleases fans of the saga by officially announcing an adaptation of Mass Effect. Indeed after the success of Fallout on Prime Video which will be rewarded with a season 2, Amazon seems to want to focus on more video game adaptations for its catalog, such as a Tomb Raider series in preparation without forgetting Secret Levelthe anthology series on several well-known video games which is arriving on the platform at the end of the year.

Commander Shepard returns to our screens!

Although this announcement might be surprising, the idea of Mass Effect being adapted for our screens was not born yesterday. For example, an animated film has already seen the light of day, Mass Effect: Paragon Lost, released in 2012, and directed by Atsushi Takeuchi and based on the character of James Vega, appearing in the 3rd part of the saga. We can also talk about the cinematographic project around Mass Effect, initially launched on May 24, 2010. Unfortunately, the project never materialized, often coming up in discussions years later, without real confirmation.

Finally, we arrive at the series which, for this adaptation, will be written and produced by Daniel Casey, known in particular for having written the script for Fast and Furious 9. We also find Karim Zreik as executive producer. For the moment, as you can imagine, the casting has certainly not been determined, although the role of Commander Shepard would already be found, and it would be Henry Cavill. After his role in Geralt of Rivia for 3 seasons, the British actor could play the famous Specter. A role that greatly interests the actor, a fan of video games such as World of Warcraft, The Witcher or Warhammer, who had described the trilogy as brilliant games and that he would make a very good film or series.

What kind of story to expect?

One of the big questions with this adaptation is knowing what it will tell. One of the options that seems the most logical is to adapt the story of the trilogy, i.e. Commander Shepard’s fight against the Reapersa machine dating back several million years with the aim of destroying advanced civilizations in the galaxy. It could also be that the series takes another direction, using elements of the game to offer us a completely new story that moves somewhat away from the base product, such as the Fallout series. To find out, we will have to wait a while to see what this rereading of Shepard’s adventures is like and find characters such as Garrus, Liara, Tali or even Joker (Jeff Moreau).
