Prince William has spoken about the cancers of his wife Kate and his father, King Charles III.
Prince William spoke this Thursday about the last few very difficult months for the British royal family. According to the BBC, the Prince of Wales described the past year as “the most difficult year” of his life.
Diana’s son spoke to reporters at the end of his visit to South Africa. Prince William opened up about how he coped with his wife and father King Charles III’s cancer diagnosis.
Buckingham Palace revealed that the king was suffering from cancer in February and would begin treatment. Just six weeks later, it was announced that the Princess of Wales was undergoing chemotherapy following a cancer diagnosis.
“I am very proud of my wife and my father for having managed (this period, editor’s note). But from a personal and family point of view, it was brutal,” confided Prince William.
For several weeks, Prince William withdrew from public life to take care of his family: “It was terrible. It’s been very difficult trying to overcome everything else (…) and keep everything on track.”
King Charles III has since returned to public duties and Kate has completed her chemotherapy treatment.
