Friday saw the launch of the first fall-winter artistic and cultural season at the abbey.
The declared desire of the municipality of Mayor Ludovic Barlaud to put arts and cultures at the heart of the territorial development project, the municipal cultural policy is carried out by his deputy in charge of the abbey, Djamel Baghdadi. The latter, after closing a summer season rich in events, including the Caunes en Personnes exhibition, has chosen to present an eclectic and daring fall-winter season. Risky and successful bet since the proposal attracted a lot of people during the opening of the exhibitions “In the eye of Griggio”, carte blanche given to the visual artist Serge Griggio, “Sleeping places”, Urbex photo exhibition by Katia Ortega , and “Saanitekid”, a set of traditional carpets in partnership with the Friends of Tallinn association. Pascal Vallière, vice-president of Carcassonne Agglo, representing president Régis Banquet, did not fail to highlight the success of the event: “It’s good for Caunes, but it’s also good for the region. Caunes is already the capital of Minervois, and perhaps now of the Agglo“, also evoking a partnership through the Noire Montagne project. After a very popular show of Estonian folk dance given by the Illikse troupe, the approximately 250 participants interacted with the artists present over a drink.
The winter season program will be marked by artistic initiation workshops by Serge Griggio (Wednesdays November 3 and 20, free upon registration), a photo meeting on the theme of Urbex with Katia Ortega (Sunday November 10 at 4 p.m. at the abbey, free), concerts offered by the Jazz au caveau association (November 23 and December 22), a theater show Le Facteur by the Cie Dryadalis (Sunday December 1stfoyer).
