At the initiative of the Mo-Vèir association, the Orange Bleue sports hall in Carcassonne (Aude) will open its doors free of charge on Saturday November 16. An event which aims to raise funds to acquire equipment to facilitate the daily lives of men suffering from illnesses reserved for men. During the month of November, the “Movember” prevention campaign is an opportunity for associations to set up awareness-raising operations and research support against male cancers, such as those of the testicles and the prostate.
No need to be a member to come and exercise on Saturday November 16 in the Orange Bleue gym based in Carcassonne. The Mo-Vèir association, highlighting the benefits of physical activity, is recovering the facilities in order to organize a day dedicated to Movember. It is a charity event which aims to raise funds for research into male diseases such as testicular or prostate cancer.
This day has become an annual event since 2021 for Mo-Vèir. Since then, each year, the amount collected has been used to improve hospital conditions for patients. In 2023, the organization raised more than 5,000 euros which made it possible to create an artificial sky in a radiotherapy bunker at the Carcassonne hospital center.
A day to match 2023
This year, the sum will be dedicated to the center’s cancer service. In theIndependentthe president of Mo-Vèir, Wilfried Mourier, expressed his intention to obtain virtual reality headsets this time to make waiting easier for patients. For this purchase, like the previous year, the goal is to reach the amount of 5,000 euros collected.
From 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., everyone will be able to go to the Orange Bleue room in Carcassonne for free. Each participant will have access to 60 devices such as bicycles, treadmills or rowers. All kilometers traveled will be converted into euros.
However, if the objective is not achieved, Wilfried Mourier does not rule out asking for participation from partner companies, which often play the game as part of this charitable event. Many other organizations support the initiative such as various local sports clubs. Mo-Vèir can also count on the participation of sailors from the CTM (navy transmission center), but also the national police.
