THE Friday June 14, at 6:30 p.m., the opening of the exhibition On the Point of a Herb, by Ursula Caruel, will take place at the Museum of Book Arts and Crafts. Born in 1976 in the Ardennes, Ursula Caruel lives in Montpellier, after spending ten years in Montolieu until 2018.

A graduate of textile arts from Roubaix and fine arts from Aix-en-Provence, she develops a local and nomadic art where the identity of the plant world is her main Source of inspiration. Passionate about botany, she studies the growth processes of living things to duplicate their creative nature. Ursula questions the bringing to life of the drawing in connection with the viewer and the space that brings them together.

In 2017, the Revel Wood Museum exhibited his work on trees. In 2020, the Dessin Paris fair presented his works in the artists’ nursery and his apple tree drawings entered the collections of the Mobilier national.

She also creates artists’ books with contemporary poets and participates in residencies and workshops supported by the Regional Contemporary Art Fund (Frac) and the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (Drac). From 2021 to 2024, she joins the Forest art project artist collective alongside botanist Francis Hallé.

In 2022, Drac Occitanie supported its international plant art collection project which brings together artists around the diversity of representations and the fragility of the plant world. The exhibition is on until November 3.
