“Partying, all together, with good music from elsewhere, all for free.” It is with these simple words that Jean-Michel Lasserre, founder and president of the organizing association La Fonderie, spontaneously summarizes the philosophy of Zik Zac.

Despite the unfavorable times that are going on, between inflation, reductions in community subsidies (which provide 80% of the budget) in recent years and a political climate little focused on the celebration of cross-breeding and cultural diversity, Zik Zac persists and signs off this week with its 27th edition.

Created in 1998 when the whole of France was singing about the victory of a “black-blanc-beur” football team, the current world music festival at Jas de Bouffan does not intend to be fooled: “We really value free services because they allow for a different, non-commercial relationship with people.. And then it allows us to design a program without the pressure of being subject to ticketing, explains Jean-Michel Lasserre, the only year-round employee of the Foundry to support the festival. By choosing to be in a working-class neighborhood, we defend access to culture for all and we try to introduce groups from all over the world that people don’t necessarily know..”

Music from Uganda, Algeria, Syria…

Thursday 4, Friday 5 and Saturday 6 July, Zik Zac will take us to meet artists and sounds from Australia, Uganda, England, Lebanon, Syria, France, Algeria, from Germany or even Nigeria… Between rock, rap, blues, afro-trap, tropical dance floor and tribal electro, the programming promises to bring out all the colors in the green amphitheater.
