South Africa: Prince William encourages young people committed to the climate

While traveling in South Africa, Prince William met this Monday in Cape Town with more than 100 young environmentalists, aged 18 to 35, who came to discuss climate issues and conservation.

This meeting, focused on the future of the climate, is part of the Earthshot Prize, a program initiated by the Prince in 2020 to encourage innovative solutions to environmental challenges.

“You are the leaders. You are the ones who will make the difference for the future,” the Prince of Wales told them, calling on young people to seize this platform to transform their ideas into concrete actions. Endowed with 1.2 million dollars, the Earthshot Prize rewards five projects committed to the environment each year.

On Wednesday evening, a ceremony in a 143 meter reusable dome will mark the awarding of this prestigious award. Also on the agenda, Prince William will attend a global wildlife summit, visit an iconic botanical garden on the slopes of Table Mountain and meet a fishing community.
