What sneakers from collaborations are making waves at the end of 2024? From Converse’s new Chuck Taylors by Charli XCX to Nike’s Air Force by Nigo, brands continue to place their trust in international creators and artists, designers and music stars in the lead. The vintage for this fourth quarter of 2024 thus readily includes sober models, which highlight sporting performances of all kinds. The major equipment manufacturers (New Balance, Asics, Nike) of course remain dominant, revisiting the main models that have made them successful over the last twenty years. Collaborations between emblematic brands are also on the program with great successes like the new JJJJound x Asics! An anthology of 9 models that are sure to be on your Christmas wishlist.
JJJJound x Asics
After a first collaboration around the very popular Gel-Kayano, the Canadian studio JJJJound reinterprets a new emblematic model from Asics: the GT-2160™. The sneaker, available in two colors – black and white – is in the vintage vein of Asics running shoes, incorporating the Japanese equipment manufacturer’s airy coverings, as well as some reflective details. A classic that is sure to please everyone.
The ASICS x JJJJound GT-2160™ (€160) is available on asics.com.
Charli XCX x Converse
After igniting the last few weeks with her “Brat Summer”, Charli XCX has released a sneaker for winter and joined the Converse family. Unsurprisingly, the British singer chose the “Chuck Taylor All Star” model. In a Christmas campaign photographed by Sharna Osborne, the “360” singer shows her new “Chuck Taylors”, either in a chunkier version or in a thigh-high version. “I’ve worn my Chucks so much that they have holes in them, so I was very excited to work with Converse to get a new pair. They are iconic,” she said.
The Converse by Charli XCX (€100) are available on converse.com.
Run x New Balance
For the end of the year, Courir is joining forces with New Balance. The sports brand wanted to celebrate the beginnings of the equipment manufacturer born in Boston, Massachusetts, and more particularly its year of foundation, 1906. Hence these two new collaborative sneakers, unsurprisingly titled… “1906”. In black or light brown, the two pairs, relatively classic, are adorned with “Cordura” technology for greater comfort (in addition to their nylon fiber covering).
The Courir x New Balance Cordura (€170) is available on courser.fr.
Cecilie Banshen x Asics
Building on a first partnership with Asics, Danish designer Cecilie Bahnsen has decided, for fall-winter 2023-2024, to extend her dialogue with the NB sneaker by revisiting the Gel-Terrain. The model, unveiled for the first time during a pop-up at New York Fashion Week last September and to which she restores its letters of nobility, integrates the codes dear to the designer, floral patterns and pop details in mind. “The construction features a ripstop mesh upper, with padded 3D flowers across the entire surface of the shoe. The shiny finish contrasts with the delicacy of the emblematic flowers, while the monochrome color palette creates an elegant and refined feeling”, we specify in the description of the sneaker, which is offered in three colors (red, black and sepia).
