Rania is only 19 years old but her dream has always been very clear: to become Miss. And it’s done. The young Nantes woman was elected Miss Nantes 2025 at the Océane gallery in the presence of Eve Gilles, Miss 2024 and the previous Miss Nantes, Laurine Piou. Two weeks after her coronation, the new queen of the city of Dukes agreed to meet us.

Actu : What did you do before being Miss Nantes?

Rania El Fallahi: I am originally from . I arrived in Nantes in 2013 after a few years spent in . I live alone with my mother. I have Moroccan, Algerian and Lebanese origins. I am currently in the first year of BTS Tourism at Carcouet high school in Nantes. I first did a Terminale STMG with a specialty in Human Resources. I saw myself as HR manager but in the end I preferred tourism. I found a first internship in a travel agency. Now that I have become Miss Nantes, I have to review some of my projects. I was supposed to do an internship at Marseille airport but now I prefer to stay in the sector and do something related to the Misses.

What are your interests? Do you have any passions in life?

R.E.F : I did 13 years of oriental dance. I also really like traveling, I have visited many countries. I recently went to Kenya in March 2024 for a humanitarian trip. I am a facilitator in the Port Boyer leisure center. With the children, we started an educational project. We created personalized bags and gifts which we then gave to children in Kenya.

Working with children and something that seems to be close to your heart…

R.E.F : Yes ! A neighbor’s son suffered from leukemia and died at the age of 10. His dream was to meet the singer Calogero. That’s why I contacted the Rêves association, which makes children’s wishes come true. This is the first one I called because for me, it is essential to participate.

What do you think of the city of Nantes that you will represent for a year?

R.E.F : I would like to show the city. They say that there is a lot of insecurity in Nantes, there is a grain of truth, but Nantes is not just that! I want to discover its diversity. I was elected with my origins. In Nantes, you can make your way and succeed.

Why did you decide to enter the competition?

R.E.F : Since I was little, I have been immersed in the world of Misses! I have always watched Miss France on . My family told me that when I grew up I would be able to introduce myself! As soon as there was an advert, I put on a blanket to make a dress and parade like the Misses. My mother signed me up when I was 18. The file was sent in December 2023, the months passed and I forgot a little, until I received an email in September to tell me that I had been selected. I couldn’t believe it!

How did you experience this election?

R.E.F : I went there saying to myself “it doesn’t matter if I lose”, it’s a first experience. I had never walked in heels in my life! I had never marched or shown myself like that in public. Being selected was already a great opportunity. I was very stressed and I stumbled during my speech, but the speech is essential. From the moment you hesitated, I thought it was eliminatory. I couldn’t believe it when my number was called. At first I didn’t understand that number 9 was me, my brain disconnected! I just hoped to be runner-up. Even today I find it hard to believe it.

Have you already received reactions from the people of Nantes following your election?

R.E.F : I’ve gained a lot of followers on Instagram since I went public. I’m not used to it, I don’t want to do anything. A TikTok account made a mistake about the candidates’ presentations, they confused me with Miss and posted a photo of my election where I was quite upset. I’ve received quite a few nasty comments about me, like “it’s a joke” or “she can’t be a miss”. I made a report but the video is still there. It upsets me a little. On Instagram, some even said that it wouldn’t be easy to win the Miss Pays de la Loire crown with a nose like that. I tell myself that we can’t please everyone and I move on. I have received many more kind and positive comments telling me that I am beautiful.

What do you plan to do during your reigning year?

R.E.F : I want to do a lot of things! It’s an incredible opportunity to be the city’s ambassador. I have already contacted shopping centers to work with them for events as well as HBC Nantes and FC Nantes. I would really like to open matches.

The next step is Miss Pays de la Loire. How do you plan to prepare for this new competition, which is due to take place in September 2025.

R.E.F : I was told it would happen very quickly. I’m already planning to take elocution lessons and practice walking in heels. At home, I practiced in my hallway (she laughs). Miss Pays de la Loire is another level.
