As the end-of-year holidays approach, some are hoping to pack their bags to clear their minds and start the year off on the right foot. You still have to do it sufficiently in advance so as not to see the bill increase.
In a report published on October 21, 2024, the travel site Kayak was interested in popular destinations around Christmas. An exotic island stands out here.
Reunion, a preserved island in the Indian Ocean
According to Kayak, Reunion Island is one of the most sought-after destinations for winter 2024/2025. Saint-Denis arrives in qfourth position in the rankingbehind Bangkok, New York and London.
Located in the heart of the Indian Ocean, near Madagascar and Mauritius, this island is also called “the intense island” or “the island of great spectacle”. For good reason, it is home to 850,000 inhabitants and is full of treasures, between idyllic landscapes and authentic cultural heritage.
A volcano, the Piton de la Fournaise, burns there frequently and coexists with a forest rich in fauna and flora unique in the world. The island is a particularly preserved place: in 2010, it was listed as a UNESCO world heritage site for its “pitons, cirques and ramparts”.
Saint-Denis, the capital, is an unmissable place for such a trip with several key points to visit, such as the State Garden, the Natural History Museum, the bronze cannons installed on the seafront or again the Notre-Dame-de-la-Délivrance church.
