The 20th edition of the International Cinema and Migration Festival will be held from November 11 to 16 in Agadir, with the world premiere screening of films produced during this year.

In the running for the official competition, eight feature films and ten short films having as their theme the phenomenon of migration, indicated the association “Al Moubadara Attakafiya” in a press release, stressing that the festival celebrates the magic of cinema in all its splendor and promises its guests and its public a rich and varied program, including screenings of films outside of competition, artistic and cultural meetings, thematic workshops and conferences on various themes.

The evaluation of the cinematographic works in competition is devolved to an international jury for feature films chaired by the Franco-Moroccan director, producer and writer Moumen Smihi, added the same source.

The other members of the jury are the Moroccan-Canadian Houda Rihani, the Moroccan director, screenwriter and writer Saad Chraibi, the Tunisian producer and film industry expert Taoufiq Guiga, the Moroccan-Dutch director Chaouki El Oufir and the Moroccan director, professor and writer Abdellah Abou Aouad, it was specified.

As for the short films, they will be evaluated by a jury chaired by the Moroccan director, producer and screenwriter Adil El Fadili, the Moroccan actress Khadija Sakarine, the Franco-Moroccan actress Mounia Magueri, the author, composer, artistic director and French musician Joël Pellegrini, and film researcher Mohammed Belghouate, notes the press release.

He also notes that, as part of the opening ceremony, a posthumous tribute will be paid to the great actress, Moroccan audiovisual icon, the late Naima El Mechrqui, to the Moroccan director Ahmed Maanouni and to the Moroccan-Canadian actress Houda Rihani.

The opening and closing ceremonies of the festival will be organized within the historic space of “La Medina d’Agadir”, while the screenings of the films will be open, free of charge, to the public, at the Sahara cinema hall located at Talborjt district.

This 20th edition is organized in partnership and collaboration with the Wilaya of Souss-Massa, the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, the Souss-Massa region, the Prefectural Council of Agadir, the Territorial Collectivity of city, the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME), the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM), as well as other public and private institutional partners.
