Four activities, two provinces, three continents

[LE FIL CULTUREL DE L’ONTARIO FRANÇAIS]

This week, we move from Africa to Europe, with a detour to Quebec, while remaining in Ontario. We also jump between disciplines for a cultural tour that is both quick and diverse.

A place of your own

The Thompson Landry art gallery, which operates in two buildings in the distillery district, specializes in exhibitions of Quebec artists. This time, it is the Montreal painter Carol Bernier who is in the spotlight in the premises of the Stone distillery building. His abstract works are created instinctively, without prior plan. “The exhibition A Place of One’s Own is a reflection on the power of art to create larger ‘spaces’,” we can read in the description of the event on the gallery’s website (in English).

The exhibition is on until November 3. Carol Bernier will be there to meet the public at the art gallery this Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.

New song for Céleste Lévis

Franco-Ontarian singer-songwriter Céleste Lévis launches the first extract from her next album with Reluctantlyavailable on listening platforms since October 18. The song with pop and radio rhythms already pleases the singer’s fans. On social networks, one of them comments on the lyrics to this effect: “I try to guess what it is about, sometimes I think I know other times I am in nothingness. One thing is certain, it’s beautiful without common sense.

The text can in fact evoke several things, including the health problems with which the singer has had to deal since her adolescence. More broadly, the song deals with the detours of life, the goals that we don’t always reach as quickly as we would like.

“I thought I had to see everything backwards, I thought I had defined all my points of reference. But I don’t blame myself for wasting a little time. »

On her social networks, Céleste Lévis evoked the image of a page turning on her previous album to open a new chapter in her career. If you want to know everything is released in 2021.
