“At the end of this film, you will never shop the same way again. » This is the objective of journalist Guy Lagache, in the first episode of his investigative series It’s for tomorrow, dedicated to food. Because “our plates weigh more heavily on the climate than our cars”either “37% of global greenhouse gas emissions”, compared to 28% for transport.

We might as well warn the viewer, the journalist is in all the plans. That said, we can only appreciate the investigation. Starting with the one about chicken: “On Earth, we consume three tonnes of chicken per second. » The sequence will then go back up the chain from a KFC, where four young people will serve as guinea pigs, to Brazil, in the company of a large soy producer, who feeds the chickens in .

The second part of the film is devoted to possible solutions. With pragmatism: almost 70% of food products are sold in supermarkets, Guy Lagache goes to these departments to decipher the labels, the origins, and follow an aquaponics producer who delivers his basil. More surprising, the visit to the Innovafeed factory in Nesle (), the largest European producer of… black soldier flies, which could feed our chickens with a “carbon impact 90% lower than that of Brazilian soya”.

The last section is devoted to fruits and vegetables, which travel on average 3,000 kilometers before arriving on the shelves. According to the same process, from observation to solutions, such as the avant-garde factory in Tibro, in Sweden, which produces one hundred salads per minute, sold cheaper than imported salads.
