Max Verstappen (Red Bull) will start at the head of the sprint race in the United States of America, 19th of the 24 rounds of the Formula 1 season, after setting the best qualifying time for this event on Friday. This is the fourth event of the season in the “sprint” format, and the Dutchman will therefore start in the lead for the third time, after Miami and Spielberg.

The championship leader will start in front of Briton George Russell (Mercedes), who was knocked out of first place by 0.012.

The Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), 3rd, and Verstappen’s main rival in the general, the Briton Lando Norris (McLaren), will start on the second row of the sprint which will start on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. French time.

The third row brings together the Spaniard Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) and the German Nico Hulkenberg, surprising 6th at the wheel of his Haas.

The other McLaren, that of Oscar Piastri, will only start 16th. The Australian saw the time of his last fast lap canceled for having exceeded the limits of the track.

The French from Alpine Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon will be 12th and 17th respectively.

A little over 100 km long, covered in around thirty minutes, the sprint race offers championship points: from eight points for the first to one point for the 8th.
