Harrison Ford is baffled by his reputation as a grump.

The Star Wars actor has become known for his serious attitude over the years, but he says he loves comedy and inherited his taste for jokes from his father.

He told Vanity Fair magazine: “I always liked humor, I always liked jokes. My father was a joke teller. Working on words and the ideas behind a joke have always interested me. When I considered becoming an actor, I had ambitions to work in both areas: serious theater and comedy. I found myself doing both without really knowing the difference. I think I think with the same actor’s mind about a joke as I do about a serious or emotional scene.”

Harrison goes on to insist that he’s a very different person when he’s not working.

He adds: “I’m a stupid person… I don’t need to be encouraged [à être idiot]. I’m really stupid on my own. But when I’m around other people who I know are goofs, the rules relax. I like to have fun. I like to be surrounded by people who are having fun. I don’t like to be too serious. »
