The event dedicated to youth cinema ended this Saturday at the Rex in Nouméa. The edition was maintained despite the crisis context, to the great pleasure of the children and the organizers. Nearly 5,000 people, young and old, responded according to the organizers.

A week of screenings, shows and workshops for the youngest…. the La Première session festival was a success this year, particularly with actors who came to perform on stage between two films, to entertain the children.

This was new in 2024 for this festival which for 16 years has been showcasing original and poetic and sometimes engaging films from all over the world.

This festival for children is also carried by children. For a week, some of them were members of the jury to decide between the films on display and note, for example, the screenplay, before ranking them.

Others have even organized workshops, like Elliott, thanks to his passion for origami. Enough to delight the youngest but also their parents, a source of pride for the organization. “I felt that the families were really happy to be able to get together, around cute films that also had meaning, with what we had experienced in recent months” explains Hélène Singer, festival coordinator.

The festival continues in Dumbéa, Mont-Dore and the North province, with screenings in Koné and Pouembo from Wednesday October 16.
