And now, Manitoba’s turn?
Restaurateurs from elsewhere in Canada also want the chance to shine. This is the case for Shaun Jeffrey, president of the Manitoba Restaurant Association.
“We would love for them to come here. We know that they would love to see the creativity that we have in the province and that they could use their influence to help its development,” he told a Radio-Canada journalist.
Mandel Hitzer, chef at Deer + Almond restaurant in Winnipeg, Manitoba, agrees. His restaurant has already been ranked among the best in Canada! He dreams of receiving a Michelin star, even though he knows that Winnipeg is not yet a great gastronomic destination.
“I think I can speak for a lot of Manitoban chefs: this is our dream. I would really like to be a starred chef,” he told Radio-Canada.
