French actor Pierre Vernier has died Wednesday October 9, according to Le Figaro this Saturday, October 12. In the same promotion as Jean-Paul Belmondo, his “friend” at the Conservatory of Dramatic Art with Jean Rochefort, he was 93 years old.
Born in 1931 in Charente-Maritime, Pierre Vernier was known for his title role in the soap opera Swiss rolldirected by Jean-Pierre Decourt in the 1960s. The actor notably filmed with Jean Gabin In Prairie Streetreleased in 1959.
Made an Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters and Knight of the National Order of Merit in 2016, Pierre Vernier also played General de Gaulle in 2008 in a TV movie. He will be rewarded for this role at the Luchon and Monaco festivals.
The actor was also under the direction of François Ozon for his film Under the sand (2000) or even Valérie Lemercier in 100% Cashmere (2013) et Marie-Francinereleased in 2017.
