6:13 p.m.: The Prefecture denies the fact that the actor’s OQTF was canceled, contrary to information from M6 this midday and from Abou Sangaré himself who spoke in the report to be reviewed above . But the Prefecture indicates this evening:

“Following the press articles published today on the situation of Mr. Abou Sangaré, the prefecture specifies that his OQTF, validated by the Administrative Court of last July, remains legally in force. The receipt issued today certifies that the prefecture has registered a new application for a residence permit which will be subject to in-depth examination.”

.

4:03 p.m.: Our colleagues from M6 announce that the Prefect of the Somme has just canceled the OQTF which targeted the Guinean actor Abou Sangare, who arrived illegally in in 2017 at the age of 16, who made the front page of Libé . The prefecture gave him a residence permit receipt, a provisional document lasting six months which allows the applicant to stay in France, pending a prefectural decision.

After three refusals of a residence permit, this decision, which remains temporary, owes a lot to the media campaign led by Libé, France Inter, France 5 and even Arte, which led the prefecture to re-examine his file.

Note that several left-wing and far-left politicians also mobilized for him.

He revealed himself in the cinema in Boris Lojkine’s latest film, The Story of Souleymane, rewarded at the Film Festival with the best actor prize and the jury prize in the “Un certain regard” category.

On July 24, 2024, the Amiens administrative court confirmed the refusal of a residence permit and “validated the obligation to leave the territory”, the Somme prefecture told AFP. However, “due to the integration process of the person concerned”, the prefect requested a re-examination of his situation at the beginning of August and a new file must be submitted to the prefectural services.

The young Guinean says he is in a hurry to return to his job as a mechanic, while at the same time casting for other films – projects suspended for possible regularization. “As long as my situation is not resolved, I cannot consider anything,” he regrets.
