This year, the Autan Chœurs de Revel choir is celebrating its 40th anniversary in a brilliant way. With a choir from Montgiscard, they offer two exceptional dates to thrill the public to the sound of Misatango… and its composer himself.

The Autan Chœurs de Revel has chosen to join forces with the Ensemble Vocal du Lauragais, choir of Montgiscard, to present an ambitious work, the Misatango by Martín Palmeri, under the direction of their respective choir directors: Priscille Coutureau and Álvaro González Hernandez.

These two concerts will take place on Saturday, October 19 at 8 p.m. at the Saint-André church in Montgiscard and on Sunday, October 20 at 5 p.m. at the Salle Claude Nougaro in Revel.

An ambitious work to celebrate four decades of passion

La Misatango by Martín Palmeri, a contemporary piece which revisits the traditional liturgy by integrating tango rhythms, will be performed by more than 80 choristers from the two ensembles. The originality of this work lies in its ability to combine the depth of the Latin text with the lively movements of tango, thus offering a touch of modernity.

Priscille Coutureau explains her choice: “I wanted to stay on a Hispanic side. We did Bizet’s Carmen in a swing version. It’s also important for us to bring current works to life.”

A unique musical collaboration

For this special occasion, Martín Palmeri himself will accompany the choir on the piano, bringing a unique dimension to the interpretation of his work. The choirs will also be accompanied by the Ad Libitum quintet from Chambéry and Jérémy Vannereau on the bandoneon, both specialists in Argentinian rhythms, as well as by the mezzo-soprano Marie- Calmels.

“It is an honor for us amateurs to be accompanied by prestigious musicians. We owe it to the professionalism of our choir directors who constantly encourage us to give the best of ourselves,” said Madeleine Martín Pañeda, president of the Revel choir.

The choristers have been working tirelessly for months to present these exceptional concerts. The work, demanding and very rich, excited all the members. “The program was immediately received with enthusiasm,” assures president Madeleine Martín Pañeda.

This musical celebration promises to be a highlight, mixing tradition and innovation, and showing the full extent of the talent and passion of local choristers.
