After his victory in Shanghai, Jannik Sinner is sure to finish the year in first place in the world. Thanks to his semi-final in China, Taylor Fritz is now 6th in the world.

The Italian Jannik Sinner, assured of finishing the year at number 1, still dominates the world tennis hierarchy ahead of the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz and the German Alexander Zverev in the ATP rankings published on Monday. Beaten in the final on Sunday of the Shanghai Masters 1000 by the boss of the circuit, the Serbian Novak Djokovic remains in fourth position ahead of the Russian Daniil Medvedev. The American Taylor Fritz, dominated in the semi-final in the Chinese megacity by “Djoko”, gained a place to settle in 6th place, at the expense of the Russian Andrey Rublev.

The Norwegian Casper Ruud, 8th, and the Australian Alex de Minaur, 9th, progressed one and two places respectively. The Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, 11th (+1), is back very close to the Top 10. The Pole Hubert Hurkacz, 12th, on the other hand, has lost four positions.

The Czech Tomas Machac, semi-finalist in Shanghai, reached the best ranking of his career at the age of 24 thanks to a gain of eight places. This is also the case for his compatriot Jakub Mensik, aged 19, who gained 14 places to settle in 51st position. Another hope of world tennis, the Chinese Juncheng Shang (+2), 19 years old, enters the doors of the Top 50 for the first time.
