In Saint-Pol-de-Léon, the Sainte-Thérèse theater will host an exceptional concert by the Brittany National Orchestra on Saturday May 11, 2024 at 8:30 p.m. entitled “Marie Jaëll, a European story”. In recent years, a growing interest in French female composers of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century has been observed. This period, marked by a diversity of styles, was also the scene of a slow recognition of the talent and genius of many creators, like Marie Jaëll.
World-renowned virtuoso pianist
World-renowned composer and virtuoso pianist, student of Saint-Saëns and Fauré, excellent teacher and writer, Marie Jaëll was at the heart of European intellectual life. However, his compositions were largely forgotten after his death. Célia Oneto Bensaid will perform at this concert as a very talented pianist and exceptional storyteller. Through a performance combining music and story, she will immerse music lovers in the fascinating life of Marie Jaëll, through her works and correspondence which marked her journey and that of her most faithful traveling companions.
