Every spring, he meets troops and spectators at Josselin (Morbihan). THE amateur theater festival come back between May 8 and 11, 2024 for his fortieth birthday.

The edition will be punctuated over four days, by a dozen indoor shows and “around ten outside the walls, in the gardens, parks, shops and chapels”, announces Anne-Cécile Voisin, delegate of ADEC 56. “Since 1982, theater lovers have been mobilizing to set up this festival of theater with a regional dimension. »

Carried by 90 volunteers

Every year, the festival reinvents itself, carried by its few 90 volunteers, aged 14 to 80 years old. “The range of shows is varied: comedies, farces, tragedies, committed theater… contemporary or classic repertoires. Incursions from other disciplines such as music, singing, dance and cinema also enliven the programming,” smiles the woman who receives, on average, more than “forty applications” from troupes who wish to represent themselves during the week -end of the ascent.

At Ecusson cultural center and at La Rochette Theater, there are 15 performances which will welcome the public. The Last Day of a Convict by Victor Hugo, by La Compagnie Le 4e Mur de Lorient, Les femmes de Barbe Bleue by Lisa Guez, by the Compagnie Arts Croisés de Fouesnant (29) or, The Reunification of the Two Koreas by Joël Pommerat, by the Boréale’s Association of Chartres-de-Bretagne (35) to name but a few.

Open-air theater and workshops for children

In addition to the classic programming, ADEC 56 concocts other events, which give all its color to the edition, to go “in front of the public!” ” On the menu : improvisation theater, ambulatory shows… “This year, the “Theater in the City” commission has chosen to return to homelessness, by bringing together three shows scheduled in atypical places: shops and the open air.”

Other surprises will be discovered. Impromptu reading, dancing, improvisation, acting. “Look out for the actors, they will be in a queue, at the corner of a terrace, at the cabaret, at the table, on the green grass, in the woods of love,” shares Anne-Cécile Voisin.

Among the unusual ones, Le Coin Mou. “It was initiated by the youngest pilot of the festival, Yuna, 12 years old. On the lawn of the Cultural Center, it will welcome all festival-goers for sound naps lasting around twenty minutes. »

And the organizer continues: “This year too, two theater workshops are open every day to festival-goers: one for children aged 5 to 11, the other for adults aged 16 to 106. » Because encouraging artistic exploration is the reason the festival exists.
