End clap for “Numbers and letters”! The show will in fact not be repeated in September, at the start of the school year, announced the director of antennas and programs at France Télévision, Stéphane Sitbon-Gomez in La Tribune. “It’s a difficult decision, but we have made the choice to stop this program”, he declared, justifying himself: “Weekend programming of ‘Numbers and Letters’ was not successful”.

The famous game is therefore stopping definitively, after going from a daily broadcast to broadcast only on weekends, late in the afternoon, since the start of the 2022 school year. Bertrand Renard and Arielle Boulin-Prat, both “ referees” of the game, had been ousted at that time and replaced by a former candidate, Stéphane Crosnier, and a school teacher, Blandine Maire. A change which had not been appreciated by the two personalities “trips in ten minutes, by video”, according to Arielle Boulin-Prat.

“We were fired on video in 10 minutes”: Arielle Boulin-Prat talks about her ouster from the game “Numbers and Letters”

A farewell show is planned before the final shutdown, with Patrice Laffont and Laurent Romejko, the two presenters who took turns hosting this program launched in 1972, 52 years ago.
