Emma Stone declared on Saturday in Cannes that her favorite director Yorgos Lanthimos, with whom she has worked for a long time and won an Oscar (“Poor Creatures”), was in a way her muse. And not the reverse.

“He’s my muse,” smiled the actress during the press conference for the film “Kinds of Kindness,” in competition.

“I’m a feminist,” the “La La land” actress said when asked about the subject. “Whether it’s activism or not? It’s just what makes sense to me.”

When she chooses a film, it’s because she “finds the characters interesting, the universe interesting, and it’s something (she) wants to explore.”

The two previous films shot by Lanthimos with Emma Stone, “The Favourite” and “Poor Creatures”, were successes in theaters and significantly increased the Greek’s popularity in Hollywood.

“Kinds of Kindness” is marked by a return to more arduous cinema, as well as scenes of sex and violence. But shooting these kinds of scenes doesn’t bother Emma Stone. “I am extremely comfortable” on the sets of Yorgos Lanthimos, “I feel like I can do anything with him,” said the actress. “I trust him more than I trust him. I’ve done to any other director.”
