HIBAPRESS-RABAT

From February 19, the branches of the French Institute of Morocco in several cities hosted “Art et Sport”, a traveling exhibition produced by the Le Sport en Images agency, using photographic funds from Agence France- Press and L’Équipe. This unique exhibition, organized in response to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, will explore the deep relationships between sport and art.

The public discovered photographs where the athletes’ movements express attitudes, emotions which transform a purely sporting gesture into a moment of graceful and artistic beauty “Art and Sport”, to help people discover and love sport.

An exhibition of 50 exceptional photographs – by Nawal El Moutawakel and her famous journey as champion at the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 1984, at the key moment when handball player Nikola Karabatic led the French team in the handball final played against Denmark at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021, through the unforgettable performance of the Morocco football team at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022 – highlights memorable moments where art and sport, two distinct fields come together, and where high-level athletes become true artists.

An intercultural exhibition celebrating sporting passion

“Art and Sport” highlights athletes from different disciplines and representing different nations through professional photographs, where we see their journeys which have marked the history of sport. An immersive experience where sport transcends the boundaries of geography and culture and encourages the celebration of unity in sporting passion. A first date in Oujda

On February 19, the French Institute of Oujda inaugurated the “Art and Sport” exhibition in the presence of AFP and L’Équipe. At the same time, the city is participating in the activities of the “Terre de jeux, Paris 2024” relay, marking its commitment to art and sport. On March 2, a major relay race took over the streets of the city, while sports demonstrations including golf, football, basketball, breakdancing, among others revived the spectators.

The event also includes meetings with eminent figures in the sporting field such as the Moroccan champion Nezha Bidouane, the digital professional and director of Atos Eric Dunkel, or the player of the French handigolf team Nino Ourabah.
