Near Rennes, a barbecue festival organized this weekend

At the stroke of 10 o’clock, Saturday May 4, 2024the first cooking demonstrations will be presented on the 17 different stands from the parking lot of Breizh Barbecue, an outdoor kitchen store run by Denis Le Lostec and located in La Chapelle-des-Fougeretz, near Rennes.

On the menu for this day: meat tastings using various cooking methods on the barbecue, on the plancha, in the brazier. On the other hand, pizza from restaurateur Marcello’s Deli will be served for lunch. Only entry to the festival is free.

“It must remain friendly and local”

When you ask the store manager Denis Le Lostec what are the plans to extend this concept, he assures: “I don’t want something crazy, it must remain friendly and local. »

In fact, most of the festival’s collaborators come fromIlle-et-Vilaine, like this Rennes pepper producer “Les Vins Conservés”. The meats are also local with, like the previous year, Kobreizh, producer of Wagyu beef in Messac as well as a pig breeder from Bruz.

One of the novelties of this year, these are the two local brazier creatorswho like the flame professionals, will come to accompany outdoor kitchen chefs, called in the United States, the “pit masters”.

The objective being to cook on different barbecues live with festival-goers and to share the taste of grilled meat with the public. But it is mainly thanks to 25 volunteers local that the festival can take place on Saturday.

Activities on the theme of the United States

Several USA-themed activities will add to the friendly warmth of the event. For country fans, Rennes groups MOFAB as well as Monsieur Bonz will perform all day. To have more fun, the game of “cornhole” will liven up the day.
