Lauryn Hill prosecuted for fraud, a week before the Fugees tour

The Fugees are tearing each other apart. One of the founders of the Fugees, Pras Michel, sued the trio’s star Lauryn Hill in civil court on Tuesday for fraud and breach of contract, after much of the legendary hip group’s reunion tour was canceled -hop.

In her complaint filed in Manhattan court, Pras Michel accuses the famous singer of having misused the group’s finances and of having unilaterally taken control of it, notably when she allegedly refused an offer of 5 million dollars to performing at the American festival Coachella. He also criticizes Lauryn Hill for her « chronic delays » to concerts and the cancellation of part of their tour, launched in 2023 in memory of the glorious era of the trio in the 90s.

Lauryn Hill denounced lawsuits « baseless » et « full of false claims and unjustified attacks ». « He (Michel Pras) notably fails to say that he was overpaid for the last tour and that he did not repay the substantial loans that I granted him as a gesture of goodwill », she declared in a press release sent to AFP. This fall, the singer will begin a tour in Europe with the group Ms. Lauryn Hill & the Fugees. The group will perform at the Accor Arena on October 18 and 19. Michel Pras’ lawyer said he would not participate in the concerts.
