The study looked in detail at victims suffering from serious injuries such as skull fractures, hip fractures or spinal injuries. These seriously injured people represent almost a quarter (23%) of hospitalized victims. “This number has fallen by 19% over the last ten years, going from 4,191 in 2013 to 3,386 in 2022. This drop, however, does not allow us to achieve the set objective of 50% fewer serious injuries by 2030 ( compared to 2019)”, we specify.

Surprising observation drawn up by VIAS: the study shows that the total number of road accident victims hospitalized is in reality 4 times higher than the number of serious injuries recorded by the police after an accident.

60% of hospitalized users suffer from serious head trauma

“For the first time, it was possible to collect data on electric scooter accidents. It appears that 60% of hospitalized users suffer from serious head trauma,” specifies the VIAS Institute, which has already requested, with surgeons specializing in traumatology, that the wearing of helmets be made compulsory for users of electric scooters. 24% of them also suffered hip and thigh injuries.
