We take you to an unusual place, 10 meters underground in Monaco. The cellar of the Hôtel de Paris is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year and so many little stories to tell. Guided tour.

A real treasure. Bottles stacked up to the ceiling… Welcome to the cellar of the Hôtel de Paris in Monaco, an underground chamber with 150 years of history, or even a little more…

“It is one of the largest hotel cellars in the world, with an inestimable heritage…” for Gennario Iorio

Dug into the rock under the Hôtel de Paris from January 1874, the cellars of the Monte-Carlo palace extend over 1,500 m².

Under this palace, a well-hidden and packaged treasure:

The largest hotel cellar in the world houses, in silence and freshness, more than 350,000 bottles lying over 1.5 km and around 6,000 different references.

Here, for example, we have Grande Fine Champagne de Réserve 1811, Roi de Rome. If you put it in historical context, that’s over 200 years. These are real pieces of history that are stored in this cellar.

Patrice Frank Executive Head Sommelier – Société des Bains de Mer

The oldest dates from 1835, a Margaux. A unique concentrate and a wine heritage whose rarity makes it famous all over the world.

To mark their 150th anniversary, the cellars are getting a makeover and revealing the first stage of their metamorphosis: a new entrance, a new reception and tasting room, designed with the Moinard firm.
