SEXUAL VIOLENCE – Two months after Judith Godrèche’s hearing in the Senate, the commission of inquiry into sexual violence in the cinema industry – which the actress requested – was opened. This Thursday, May 2, the deputies unanimously voted for its creation in order to study the abuse and violence suffered by children and adults in the cultural sectors.

We want to move from listening to words to actionsdeclared Francesca Pasquini, environmentalist deputy for Hauts-de-Seine who initiated this proposal, during a press conference following the vote in the National Assembly, this same Thursday.

“It’s up to us to take over from this outstretched hand”, adds Renaissance MP Véronique Riotton. Which specifies: “ It is important that men mobilize. We can choose to be passive witnesses or real allies. »

First mission: set up the commission. The call for applications has just been launched. The constitutive meeting, which must bring together the 30 parliamentarians, is set for May 13. The start of the auditions should begin the week of May 20. As for the conclusions, they will be delivered in six months, in November.

The objectives of this commission, which responds to a request made several times by Judith Godrèche, are to determine in a very concrete manner the mechanisms and failures which allow these abuses to occur, and to propose legislative measures to better regulate them. .

Benoît Jacquot auditioned?

This does not only concern the cinema sector. The audiovisual sector (i.e. television), advertising and the fashion industry, but also live performance are concerned, both in the professions and in schools. Also, the investigation was extended to all victims, minors and adults. “ We’re not really any different at 18 than we were at 17 years and 362 days. “, justified Democratic MP Erwan Balanant.

Will Benoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon, who are the subject of complaints for sexual and physical violence filed by Judith Godrèche, be heard? Parliamentarians do not close the door. On the other hand, they will be required not to comment with them on the legal cases to which they are the subject. “ We are not the prosecutors, even less the judges », recalled Francesca Pasquini.

However, this leaves the “ possibility of questioning the necessary people, including those who did not want to respond to the press », adds the MP. Former TV columnist and star psychoanalyst Gérard Miller, currently the target of three complaints and more than fifty testimonies, could be one of them.
