While his new album was recently released, Jérémy Frérot assures that the song Adieu, which deals with his separation from Laure Manaudou, was released with the consent of the former swimmer.
Laure Manaudou has once again experienced the pangs of separation. As was the case with Frédérick Bousquet, the father of her first daughter. This time, her story with Jérémy Frérot lasted nearly a decade and gave birth to two boys: Lou and Sacha, aged seven and three. But the couple nevertheless decided to separate. A breakup put into song by the singer revealed with his brother by The Voice.
And if Jérémy Frérot has chosen this title entitled ‘Adieu’ as the first extract from his new album, released last week, it is because according to him it is at the origin of everything. “It was the song that kind of sparked all the others,” he explained in the columns of Télé-Loisirs before returning to his break-up with Laure Manaudou.
Only his side of the story
“I was in the studio, but I was disturbed, a little lost. I had just experienced an intense emotional change in my personal life and I started writing about it, he explained. It came out very naturally. I wrote what we told my children with their mother to tell them that we were going to change our lives. I sang it that same evening and I got a little sick at that moment because I had it inside me, in my belly, and getting it out was quite violent.
However, it remained to be announced to Laure Manaudou that their breakup would give rise to a song. Because according to Jérémy Frérot, he did indeed ask the Olympic champion for permission. “Of course! There are always discussions. If I brought it out, it’s because it was possible.”he assured, specifying however that this was only his version of the story: “Afterwards, it’s a song that really talks about what I feel, what I’ve experienced on my side, how to manage separation with children of that age. It’s my vision of things that I’m exposing.”
