The Popular Orchestra of the Tours Opera is recruiting

After the Choir and the Choir, the Popular Orchestra is aimed at musicians over 16 years old who wish to join an amateur symphony orchestra.

An ambitious project, this symphonic formation bringing together 70 amateur musicians works in the same conditions as a professional orchestra. This is demonstrated by the two major works in the repertoire, theRomeo and Juliet Overture by Tchaikovsky and the Symphony of the New World by Dvorak, performed brilliantly in front of a packed house at the Opera for the Fête de la Musique.

Search: strings, percussion, tubas, trombones, trumpets, horns…

For this second year, the Orchestre populaire is recruiting for the string, percussion, tubas, trombones, trumpets and horn sections. “To register for the September 2024 auditions, participants fill out the form available on the Opera website, then auditions will be organized on September 27. Candidates will have to prepare a free piece and optionally an orchestral excerpt from the two proposed and downloadable on the Opera website.”

If the expected level corresponds to a practice of the instrument of approximately seven years, the conductor Benjamin Garzia specifies that this is “of merely indicative data and invites candidates who do not know their level to apply.”

Rehearsals take place every Wednesday evening at the Joséphine-Baker auditorium of the Tours Conservatory, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (except during school holidays).

Application deadline: September 24. Auditions: September 27 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visit operadetours.fr
