You have surely noticed. Since September 20, the facade of the Town Hall of Joué-lès-Tours (Indre-et-) is adorned with red at nightfall. Why this change in lighting?

Raising awareness of blood cancers

This initiative is carried out in collaboration with the association “Living with an NMP” as part of Red September, a month dedicated to the blood cancer awareness.

Each year, approximately 45,000 people in are diagnosed with blood cancer, representing 12% of new cancer cases. However, these cancers, like the leukemias, lymphomas, myelomas and myeloproliferative neoplasias (MPN)remain less publicized.

Myeloproliferative neoplasias are a rare type of blood cancer caused by a mutation in the bone marrow. The association “Living with MPN” works to raise awareness of these diseases, support patients and promote research.

Support research

As part of Red September, the association calls for support research in favor of NMPs by donating to the advancement of medical knowledge.

The illumination of the City Hall in red is a strong symbol of support for the sick and the fight against blood cancers.
