Princess Isabella of Denmark celebrates her 17th birthday

Princess Isabella of Denmark, Countess of Monpezat, is living her last months as a child. This April 21, the teenager celebrates her 17th birthday. In just twelve months, she will join her older brother, Crown Prince Christian, in the circle of young adults of the royal family. Crown Prince Christian came of age in October 2023. Princess Isabella will celebrate her 17th birthday with friends and family, the court has announced.

This April 21, as tradition dictates, photos were shared by the Danish Royal Court on the occasion of Isabella’s birthday. The photos were taken by Queen Mary herself. Princess Isabella wears a pendant with the initial B, in reference to her family nickname “Bella”.

Princess Isabella poses with Coco, a family border collie. For her 14th birthday, Princess Isabella posed with Grace, who is probably Coco’s mother, as we know that she gave birth to two puppies at the end of 2021. Grace joined the family in 2017 and he is a descendant of Ziggy, the first dog that Frederik and Mary received at their wedding.

Princess Isabella Henrietta Ingrid Margrethe of Denmark was born on April 21, 2007 in Copenhagen. At her baptism in July 2007, she received as royal godmothers Queen Mathilde of Belgium (who was still Duchess of Brabant) and Princess Alexia of Greece, eldest daughter of King Constantine II and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece. Alexia is the first cousin of Crown Prince Frederik, Queen Anne-Marie being the younger sister of Queen Margrethe II. Princess Isabella received as godfathers relatives of the family who are not members of the royal family.

On January 14, 2024, her grandmother, Queen Margrethe abdicated, leaving her throne to her son, King Frederik X. Princess Isabella is now the King’s daughter. Princess Isabella is now 2nd in the line of succession to the Danish throne. One day his brother is expected to become King Christian XI. Princess Isabella finishes high school.
