Music – The star opened up during a Q&A session at the Telluride Film Festival

Selena Gomez didn’t expect to have such an enriching experience singing for Emilia Perezher new film. The 32-year-old star opened up about the recording of My Waythe song attached to her character, Jessi Del Monte, during a question-and-answer session held at the Telluride Film Festival on September 1.

“It was originally a totally different song,” the star explained. Only Murders in the Building. “It had a rougher sound, but as I worked with the composer Camille, it almost became a ballad. It became the story of a woman and the phases of her life that she goes through. It was really beautiful.”

A creative process that has done the pop star a world of good, as she is increasingly focused on her acting career.

A liberating experience

“I spent hours and hours in the studio. It was fun, but I also had to try not to sing like I usually do,” Selena Gomez continued. “I had to think, ‘Okay, what are the limits of what I can do with my character?’ It was really therapeutic and I think it’s beautifully done.”
