Beyond the continued increase in activity for influenza syndrome in emergency services and SOS Médecins associations, SPF underlines that in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, activity in emergency services is now higher than the peak observed during the previous season and that the share of hospitalizations for influenza-like illness, among all hospitalizations after going to the emergency room, is now higher than the peaks observed during the two previous seasons. Hospitalizations mainly concern adults aged 65 and over, while visits to emergency rooms mainly concern those under 5 years old.

In the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, the same trends are generally observed with an increase in activity for influenza-like illness in the SOS Médecins associations and a slight increase in activity at the hospital which, however, remains slightly lower than the regional average.
If the wave is high, the Public Health France institute is not alarming, ensuring that “the dynamics of the epidemic do not present any unusual character at this stage. » But remember that given the active circulation of influenza viruses, the adoption of barrier gestures remains essential.
