Badly started yesterday following electronic problems, Sébastien Loeb managed to come back very strongly this morning in the second part of the 48h Chrono. He finishes this second stage of the Dakar 2025 just 13 minutes behind the winner of the day!
Dakar 2025, Al-Rajhi and Lategan big winners of the 48h Chrono!
This morning, the 48h Chrono did more damage. The second “short” half of this stage spread over two days did not spare many crews. Starting with Cristina Gutierrez (Dacia). The Spanish pilot had to return to the bivouac towed by her assistance truck. Guillaume De Mevius (MINI), Giniel De Villiers (Toyota) and Nani Roma (Ford) stopped for a very long time to repair their cars. For his part, Carlos Sainz (Ford) trudges painfully to the finish line and loses more than an hour following his roll yesterday.
Inversely, Henk Lategan (Toyota) and Sébastien Loeb (Dacia) experienced a more positive second 48-hour day. This is especially the case for the nine-time world rally champion who recovers almost 20 minutes. He finished 7th in the stage, just 13 minutes behind the winner.
In front, Yazeed Al-Rajhi (Toyota) managed to get rid of Nasser Al-Attiyah (Dacia). The Saudi won the stage with more than 4 minutes ahead of the Qatari. Nasser received a four-minute penalty and finally finished third in the stage behind Henk Lategan (+4mins16). Juan Cruz Yacopini (Toyota) ranks fourth ahead of Rokas Baciuska (Toyota) who came back from the devil and who finished 5th, 9 minutes behind Al-Rajhi! Mathieu Serradori (Century) ranks 6th just ahead of Sébastien Loeb. Mattias Ekström (Ford) finally failed in 8th place while he was fighting for the top 4. Toby Price (Toyota) and Benediktas Vanagas (Toyota) complete the top 10.
In general, Henk Lategan is the new leader of the Dakar 2025 in front of Yazeed Al-Rajhi! Nasser Al-Attiyah is third, 11mins14 behind the South African. Toby Price is fourth ahead of Mattias Ekström who saves the Ford house. Sébastien Loeb is sixth, 18mins56 behind the leader! It’s a good operation for the Dacia driver. The gaps are ultimately minimal in the top10 after this 48 hours Chrono.
Motorcycle, unstoppable Daniel Sanders!
Unsurprisingly, Daniel Sanders (KTM) won the 48h Chrono, his second stage victory in a row on the 2025 Dakar. Thanks to the bonus system for the openers, Adrien Van Beveren (Honda) finished second, 6mins45 behind the winner. Skyler Howes (Honda) is third in this long 2nd stage. Overall, Sanders took off with a 12-minute lead over Howes. Ross Branch, fifth of the day, is third overall, four seconds behind Howes. Tosha Schareina (Honda) and Ricky Brabec (Honda) complete the top5 just ahead of Van Beveren.
