A huge thank you to everyone who got involved this year: donors, collectors, partners and volunteers. Thanks to your generosity and commitment, numerous projects have emerged to combat childhood cancer.
Major advances in 2024
The year 2024 was marked by significant progress in research against pediatric cancers, driven by exceptional collective mobilization and promising scientific advances. Here’s a look back at this year’s main victories.
A record collection for the Fight Kids Cancer call for projects
In collaboration with its European partners, Imagine for Margo managed to raise 10.7 million euros as part of the Fight Kids Cancer 2024 call for projects. This impressive amount made it possible to finance eight ambitious programs, including two clinical trials on the most serious brain tumors. This progress reinforces the impact of this initiative, which in four years has become an essential reference in European pediatric research.
Scientific breakthroughs bring hope
The progress made this year offers new perspectives for the treatment of childhood cancers. Among the notable advances:
-
An innovative drug against the NTRK protein : Dr. Daniel Orbach of the Institut Curie tested a treatment in the form of a syrup targeting the NTRK protein, with spectacular results.
-
The BIOMEDE trial against infiltrative gliomas : This trial led by Dr. Jacques Grill at Gustave Roussy, funded since 2014, made it possible to record lasting remissions for children with an initially poor prognosis.
-
The BEACON Immuno project : By combining chemotherapy and immunotherapy, this project provided new treatment options for relapsed neuroblastoma.
At the same time, the program SACHAwhich facilitates access to innovative therapies, has expanded to six European countries. It made it possible to study 70 promising molecules and offer treatments to children in critical situations.
Represent the cause at ASCO
Imagine for Margo was the only organization representing pediatric cancers at the ASCO World Congress, an important recognition that brings the voices of young patients to the international stage.
Hack4Hope: The first hackathon against childhood cancer
The Hack4Hope hackathon, organized with the Paris-Saclay Cancer Cluster, LifeArc and Fondation S, brought together researchers, families, doctors, manufacturers and start-ups to find concrete solutions. Among the award-winning projects:
-
TheraSonic : A technology using ultrasound to improve treatments.
-
DeepLife : An artificial intelligence predicting the evolution of tumors.
-
HEPHAISTOS Pharma : An immunotherapy targeting osteosarcomas.
-
Watery : A tool for optimizing chemotherapy doses using AI.
These projects illustrate how collaborative innovation can accelerate the development of more effective treatments.
The FAST conference: A driver of progress
The 11th annual FAST conference brought together more than 180 participants from diverse backgrounds at the Châteauform George V. Among the advances presented:
-
TAG-N-TRAK : A promising approach for fibrosarcomas.
-
BIOMEDE : A program bringing hope for children with gliomas.
-
SACHA : A model now deployed on an international scale.
This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss new projects, such as the creation of research centers certified by INCa and collaborations with bioclusters to accelerate innovations.
Obtaining ARUP status: Official recognition
By becoming Recognized Association of Public Utility (ARUP)Imagine for Margo confirms its major role in the fight against pediatric cancers. This status strengthens its credibility and allows it to mobilize more support, public and private.
Solidarity races: A record of mobilization
In 2024, races Children without Cancer mobilized more than 11,000 participants across France and abroad, raising nearly 3.3 million euros for research. Events such as the race at La Défense and the Domaine de Saint-Cloud were sold out, confirming the enthusiasm around these initiatives.
Solidarity actions and significant events
In 2024, Imagine for Margo has increased its solidarity events:
These initiatives symbolize the power of the collective and the strength of solidarity.
Improving the well-being of children and their families
Next to 420 000 euros were dedicated to the well-being of young patients, their families and caregivers. Among the actions carried out:
-
Organization of creative workshops and fun activities in hospitals.
-
Visits from personalities like Vianney or Inoxtag.
-
Financing telepresence robots to keep children connected with their loved ones.
-
Distribution of nearly 700 Christmas gifts.
A collective commitment for a future without pediatric cancer
The achievements of Imagine for Margo in 2024 demonstrate a constant desire to accelerate research and improve the daily lives of children with cancer. With everyone’s support, the association intends to pursue its essential mission: to offer a cancer-free future to young patients.
See you in 2025 for new challenges and victories!
