“Even on New Year’s Eve, Russia only cared about making Ukraine suffer,” says Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Kyiv city administration said on Wednesday that two people found dead in rubble of building following Russian attack occurred in the morning in the Ukrainian capital.
Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office adds that at least seven other people were injured, including two pregnant women.
Debris from a downed drone also caused a fire on the roof of one of the buildings of the National Bank of Ukraine, in the Pecherskyi districtindicates the bank on Telegram. The windows on the upper floors were damaged.
The bank, however, confirms that all operational systems and services continue to operate fully.

“Thanks to our air defense systems, mobile fire groups and electronic warfare systems, most of them did not hit their targets”he adds, while offering his condolences to the families of the victims.
Russia did not slow down its strikes against Ukraine over the holiday period, with Volodymyr Zelensky saying instead that Moscow had stepped up its air attacks.
On Christmas Day, Russia led a large-scale attack on Ukraine, firing 78 missiles and 106 drones against several cities.
In a New Year’s message, Volodymyr Zelensky promised to “everything possible to end the war over the next 12 months”.
