The concept of mental health and its impact and how to reduce and eliminate psychological stress in light of war
Solidarity School (Ibn Sina Center and UFP) Partner institution: Palestinian Red Crescent Society Number of participants: 30 women of all ages
Presentation: As part of efforts to raise awareness about the importance of mental health, an awareness session was organized in cooperation with the Red Crescent Society.
The session aimed to introduce the concept of mental health, clarify its impact on daily life and provide scientific methods to deal with challenges
1. The concept of mental health: The concept of mental health as an essential component of public health was explained, as well as its importance in balancing physical, emotional and social aspects.
2. Impact on mental health: Participants discussed how good mental health positively affects personal functioning, social relationships and psychological stability. The negative impact of psychological problems such as anxiety and depression has also been highlighted.
3. Scientific mechanisms and methods to treat and eliminate psychological problems: The team explained a set of practical and effective methods, including: – Breathing and relaxation techniques. – Develop positive thinking. – The importance of professional psychological counseling. – Exercise and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Provide participants with practical tools to manage daily stress and improve psychological well-being. – Build participants’ confidence and provide them with knowledge about appropriate mechanisms and the need to seek help from specialized authorities when needed.
Implementation of psychological support and entertainment activities for children
For children inside the solidarity tent with the aim of reducing their negative psychological effects, such as the effects of shock, fear and anxiety. The activity included psychological relief, songs, Palestinian Dabke and a theatrical performance aimed at raising awareness of the remnants of the war. The activity was implemented for the children of the Solidarity School in partnership with the Aisha Association for Women’s and Children’s Health.
Because they are our future and because education is an essential and important part of their lives, just as important as water and air, extracurricular educational activities for children continue. The children participate despite the cold and the hunger, despite the bombings and the genocide, with a steely determination which makes them grow in hope for a better future.
A health education session with the Terre des Insan Charitable Foundation in partnership with the UJFP and Ibn Sina, Objectives of the session: – Raise awareness about anemia, hepatitis A and malnutrition. – Promote a culture of prevention and early detection of diseases.
1. Anemia: The causes and symptoms of anemia and the importance of early detection were discussed. An adequate diet rich in iron and the elements necessary for its prevention and treatment were also discussed.
2. Hepatitis A: The speakers explained the nature of the disease, its symptoms and its mode of transmission. The importance of personal hygiene, hand washing, and avoidance of contaminated food or water sources to prevent disease is emphasized.
3. Malnutrition: The manifestations of malnutrition and its impact on the health of children and adults were discussed, as well as the role of a balanced diet in improving public health and preventing disease.
4. Use of food supplements: The session discussed the importance of food supplements and their role in the treatment of cases of anemia and malnutrition. Health educators explained how to use the designated dietary supplement, appropriate doses and times to ensure its effectiveness.
20 mothers participated in the session: The participants expressed their great benefit from the session and showed great interest in the information provided, particularly with regard to the adoption of practical measures to improve their health and that of their children.
The Terre des Hommes Foundation thanked the participants and partners, the Ibn Sina Center and the UJFP, and affirmed its commitment to continuing efforts to offer more useful awareness sessions.
