Faced with the active circulation of the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) in Brittany, responsible for the bronchiolitisand with the approach of winter epidemics of flu and of Covidthe management of the Yves Le Foll hospital is strengthening prevention measures. Since Monday December 16, 2024, the port of mask becomes compulsory again for all visitors and accompanying persons in contact with patients in medicine, surgery, maternity, rehabilitation and emergency departments.
This measure applies to all public hospitals of the Groupement Hospitalier de Territoire (GHT) of Armor, bringing together the establishments of Saint-Brieuc, Paimpol, Tréguier, Guingamp, Lannion-Trestel and those of Lamballe and Quintin (Penthièvre and Poudouvre).
More flexible rules in nursing homes
For nursing homes and medico-social establishments in the area, the rules are more flexible: the wearing of mask is recommended in case of contact with residents. However, in the event of a cluster (at least three cases of acute respiratory infections), wearing a mask becomes compulsory for everyone: professionals, visitors, residents and workers.
The hospital’s decision provokes varying reactions. “It doesn’t bother me at all, I’m in favor of protecting people. It’s not necessarily very pleasant, but it’s a defense against epidemics.” explains Danièle, encountered in the hospital parking lot. Laurence, who leaves the establishment with a mask on his face, wants to be more pragmatic: “It allows me not to be sick. Because if I get the flu, it’s not good, I end up in the emergency room”she confides.
The management of the GHT of Armor reminds that these measures are evolving and that they could be adapted according to the local and departmental epidemiological situation. Users are invited to follow these instructions to help prevent winter epidemics.
