For the second consecutive year, cases of tuberculosis were detected in nursery classes in Libourne. Screening and information to concerned parents must take place.
Two cases of tuberculosis were detected by the Gironde Anti-Tuberculosis Center (Clat) in a nursery school in Libourne. The two sick people, detected in November, are not “more dangerous for the community” according to the Gironde department. A screening of the entire school establishment (students, parents, teachers and staff identified as contact cases) will take place in the coming days.
In connection with Clat 33 and ARS, a chest x-ray and an immunological test must therefore be prescribed to the people concerned. An information meeting reserved for these contact cases will be held within the establishment this Thursday. Still relevant today despite vaccines and treatments that can treat it, tuberculosis is a serious illness. It still kills more than a million people worldwide each year according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
A case of tuberculosis had already been detected in another nursery school in Libourne last February. It was a professor.
