The farmers of the FDSEA of Morbihan, with the regional commission of women farmers, taking up the initiative of their colleagues in the Hautes-Alpes, launched the “Belles en bottines” operation in Brittany.
Thanks to a partnership with the Aigle brand, the pink ankle boots, symbolizing the pink ribbon in the fight against breast cancer, were sold at a price of 85 euros, of which 20 euros are donated to the Morbihan Cancer League. This operation was aimed at all women wishing to participate.
4,000 new cases each year
More than 100 pairs of ankle boots have been sold in Brittany. In Morbihan, the FDSEA presented a check for €540 to the department’s cancer league. Part of the funds raised will go to research and the other to monitoring women suffering from this disease in the region. “ This commitment, like all those that take place across France, is essential for this cause which affects us all. », Indicate those responsible for the operation. In the agricultural social system, nearly 33,000 women are affected by breast cancer and there are nearly 4,000 new cases each year. “ It is the most common cancer in women and today, with early detection, the chances of 5-year survival are 99%. A mammogram takes just 20 minutes and it saves lives. And above all, it’s free! The MSA covers the exam 100% without any advance fees “. In 2023, 59% of women members of the agricultural scheme between 50 and 74 years old were screened for breast cancer. This represents 123,247 women. “ This is above the national average which is one in two women, but it is still too little ».
