Speaking on the issue, Dr Abdelghani Kharchafi, specialist in family medicine, clarified that measles is one of the diseases called eruptive fevers, diseases which combine fever and skin rashes. According to him, Bouhamroun is a viral disease that is not new and was widespread around the world decades ago. The specialist said that the disease has not completely disappeared despite vaccination, because it is an endemic disease which appears in the form of isolated cases and can sometimes cause limited epidemic outbreaks, particularly in areas where vaccination coverage is low. According to his explanations, the disease which affects the respiratory system spreads easily when the infected person breathes, coughs or sneezes. What about its consequences? It can cause serious complications which could lead to the death of the patient, underlines Dr Kharchafi, noting however that it is, in most cases, a benign illness.
